Application Process
Our application window will open soon
Our application window for new proposals is November 24 to December 19, 2025. Before preparing your submission, we encourage you to review our simple application process below.
For a detailed view of the application process, you can download our interactive Application Guide.
1
Register and Sign In
To access the application form, you'll need to be signed in to our website. Begin by completing the registration process here. Ensure all required fields are filled out and verify your email address. Once registered, you can log in to the T1D Innovation Grant Program portal by clicking 'Sign in' in the website header.
2
Complete the Application Form
Once logged in, click Apply Now to begin your application. We recommend reviewing the Application Guide in advance to prepare. Please ensure your application remains anonymous (i.e., free of identifying personal or institutional information) to the reviewers and includes all the required information.
The form is designed for ease of use, and the system will automatically save your progress. It is expected that the form will take no more than 4 hours to complete, including gathering the required information together.
3
Submit Your Application
When your application is complete and thoroughly reviewed, you will need to request two e-signatures: one from the Legal Representative (i.e., representative from the legal department of the applicant’s research institution) and another from the Principal Investigator (the person responsible for the conduct of the research project and who has permission from their Institution to apply for a grant). This crucial step will be completed at the final stage of the application process.
4
Review Process
To ensure your application is ready for evaluation, an initial quality check will be conducted by an external body. Once this step is successfully completed, an external scientific expert panel will assess your proposal in depth. These reviewers will systematically evaluate each research project proposal against predefined criteria, assigning scores in an anonymous and non-biased manner.
5
Notification and Next Steps
You will receive an email notifying you of the final decision regarding your application, indicating whether the proposal has been accepted or denied. The five highest ranked projects will proceed to Sanofi's Medical Contribution Process for final legal and compliance validation. Successful applicants will be contacted individually to resubmit their application in iENVISION (a cloud-based software solution that Sanofi uses to manage various scientific and medical collaboration processes with external stakeholders) for due diligence before signing a contract with Sanofi, and to record a virtual presentation to be shown at the grant award ceremony at the 21st Immunology of Diabetes Society (IDS) Congress (April 2026, Brisbane, Australia).
How Will Your Research Project Be Evaluated?
An external panel of international scientific experts in T1D will evaluate your research proposal. Each project will be assigned scores across key categories to ensure a fair and comprehensive assessment. The evaluation criteria are as follows:
